Background:

Laura has extensive trial experience practicing in King, Skagit and Whatcom counties. She has litigated before juries and judges in all phases of criminal and civil litigation. As a managing editor for two law reviews and working on federal and state death penalty appeals, Laura gained mastery of written advocacy to compliment her oral advocacy skills. Laura attended the prestigious National Criminal Defense College, a two-week intensive trial advocacy training program.

Recently, Laura has turned her attention to Collaborative Law, a non-litigation based process for resolving dispute between individuals who have prior and potentially on-going interpersonal relationships. She has received mediation training and collaborative law training to enhance her practice. Laura is a founding member of the Northwest Collaborative Professionals, Whatcom County's association of collaborative professionals. Laura is currently serving on the board of directors of Collaborative Professionals of Washington, the state-wide umbrella organization for collaborative professionals in our state. She is also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She is committed to increasing collaborative law as the primary mode of dispute resolution in divorces and child custody cases.
